We’re thrilled to share that our 2023 Estate Shiraz recently took out not one but two awards at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show, including the coveted title of Best Red Wine of Show!

Our winning wine is best described as a lovely expression of cool climate Shiraz from a cool year. It offers lots of bright, perfumed fruit and white pepper on the palate—which the judges (and we) love; whilst its fine tannins and fruit complexity give it a formidable combination of purity, elegance, and power—deeming it worthy of the title, Best Red Wine of Show.

Reflecting on the 2023 vintage, our head winemaker, Adam Carnaby, said, ‘It was certainly challenging. The season saw high rainfall and disease pressure, but meticulous care from the vineyard to the cellar led to exceptional results. Open ferments, partial whole bunch inclusion in select parcels and gentle techniques like pump-overs (without plunging) preserved the purity of the fruit, creating a wine that is both expressive and refined.’ 

Winning awards in wine shows is always validating, but winning two—including Best Red Wine of Show—in our local regional show is especially meaningful. Our 2023 Estate Shiraz is yet to be released. But we have a feeling that when it is, it won’t last long. 😉
