OUR FAMILY

The Wicks Family has a long history of involvement in agriculture with the Woodside Vineyard following on from their Orchard and Nursery operations at Highbury. In late 1999, the 54 hectare property at Woodside was chosen and purchased for its scenic location and suitability for premium wine grape production.

COOL CLIMATE ADELAIDE HILLS WINES

Cool climate has become shorthand for high quality. It’s where the climate conspires to produce wines of finesse and elegance, packed full of diverse flavour profiles. The cooler the climate, the more important vineyard planning, design, viticulture management and winemaking are in producing high quality wines, expressive of their terroir.

Another brilliant 2013 vintage Hills Shiraz, this is astoundingly smart with great depth and proper gravitas from the very first sniff to the lingering final impressions. It’s dark, rich and toasty with warm-hearted, mouth-filling flavours and while it wears a coat of fine, ripe and sweet tannins, it’s not at all weighed down by them. That’s called ultimate balance — beside all that, it’s utterly delicious. - Tony Love, The Advertiser Top 100 READ MORE
